Behind the Scenes Visit: Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta
On October 5th, late afternoon and early evening, the Club will have an exclusive members only event at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta in midtown. This special event will include a cocktail reception, guided tours of the Money Museum, where Bank staff will provide an overview of the Fed's role as the central bank and be available to answer questions and explain what they do. In addition, Michael Bryan, vice president and senior economist on the macroeconomic and monetary policy team, will speak with us. He is responsible for organizing the Atlanta Fed's monetary policy process. Michael has an impressive resume. In 1986, he served as an economist in the Research Division of the Federal Reserve System's Board of Governors in Washington, D.C. He was promoted to the position of economic adviser in 1991 and appointed as a bank officer in 1995. In 1998, he was a visiting scholar at the Bank of Japan's Institute for Monetary and Economic Studies in Tokyo, and in 2000, he was a visiting economist at the Swedish Riksbank in Stockholm. He has served on the faculties of the Booth Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago, Cleveland State University, Baldwin-Wallace College, and Case Western Reserve University. He joined the Atlanta Fed in 2008. Ahead of the November elections, there will not be a shortage of things to discuss. More detail to come later.
